DONG Energy & Siemens Gamesa - agreement wind turbines for Borssele 1 & 2 offshore wind farm - 07.2017

DONG Energy A/S, DK /SIEMENS Gamesa Erneuerbaren Energien, Spain: DONG Energy signs agreement with Siemens Gamesa for wind turbines for the Borssele 1 and 2 offshore wind farm. Siemens Gamesa will supply and service 94 units of their 8MW wind turbines  for the 752MW Borssele project. The offshore wind farm is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2020. Das Gebiet von Borsselle I und II befindet sich etwa 22 Kilometer vor der Küste der niederländischen Provinz Zeeland in einer Wassertiefe zwischen 14 und 38 Metern. Borssele I und II bedeckt eine Fläche von etwa 128 km². Jasper Vis, Country Manager for DONG Energy Netherlands, says: "With the signing of the wind turbine contract, we pass a key milestone in this project, which will be a landmark in the Netherlands' shift to renewable energy. This is an important step on our way to reducing the cost of renewable electricity in the Netherlands."

Anders Lindberg, Senior Vice President and responsible for the construction of wind farms in DONG Energy, adds:
"We're progressing well with the preparation of Borssele 1 and 2, and we're looking forward to working with Siemens Gamesa and the other suppliers who all contribute with innovations and cost outs to make the realisation of a large-scale offshore wind farm possible." The wind farm's
total capacity of 752MW will enable it to cover the annual power consumption of approximately one million Dutch households.
